Eating Disorder Treatment

Remember That Food is Fuel, Not the Enemy

Secret eating, feeling intense regret and purging after meals, or letting the number on the scale dictate your entire life... This is not a lack of willpower; it is a psychological cry for help.

An eating disorder is rarely about the food itself—it’s about emotions. You may be trying to manage an uncontrollable life by "controlling what you eat." In our clinic, while our Clinical Psychologist resolves the trauma underlying the eating behavior, our Specialist Dietitian repairs your damaged metabolism through "Non-Diet Nutrition" (Intuitive Eating).

Defining the Battle at the Table

1. Emotional Eating

Your stomach is full, but your soul is hungry. You find yourself in front of the refrigerator whenever you feel stressed, sad, or lonely.

  • The Cycle: Eat $\rightarrow$ Feel Guilt $\rightarrow$ Eat More.

2. Binge Eating Disorder

Consuming excessive amounts of food in a short period, feeling a total loss of control, until your stomach physically hurts.

  • The Difference: Unlike Bulimia, there is no attempt to compensate through purging or excessive exercise. It often results in obesity.

3. Bulimia Nervosa

Binge eating episodes followed by "compensatory" behaviors.

  • Symptoms: Self-induced vomiting, using laxatives, or extreme exercise due to an intense fear of weight gain. Individuals are often at a normal weight but live with secret shame.

4. Anorexia Nervosa

A deadly fear of gaining weight and a total refusal to eat.

  • Symptoms: Extreme thinness, distorted body image (seeing oneself as fat despite being underweight), and loss of menstruation. This is a serious, life-threatening condition.

5. Orthorexia (Healthy Eating Obsession)

An obsession with eating only "clean/organic" foods. It destroys social life as the individual becomes unable to eat anywhere outside their controlled environment.

Why Diet Lists Don't Work

Because the issue isn't "what you eat," it’s "why you eat." We do not provide forbidden lists.

  • Psychologist + Dietitian (Simultaneous Follow-up): While our psychologist satisfies your "Emotional Hunger," our dietitian teaches you how to manage your "Physical Hunger." They meet weekly to evaluate your progress.

  • Trauma Resolution with EMDR: Eating disorders are often rooted in traumas such as abuse, neglect, or childhood bullying (e.g., being called "fat"). With EMDR Therapy, we desensitize the traumatic memories that cause you to use food as an "anesthetic."

  • Medical Check-Up (Internal Medicine): Constant purging or starvation disrupts electrolyte balance, damages the heart, and irritates the esophagus. As a Medical Center, we secure your blood values and organ health before starting the psychological journey.

The Wolistic Recommendation

"Support with Body Contouring Devices:" In eating disorder treatment, once an individual begins to make peace with their body and their eating patterns stabilize, non-surgical devices like Onda Pro or Lymphatic Drainage can be used for regional stubborn fat to boost motivation. However, this should be planned as a "reward" and integrated only in the final stages of the treatment process.

Frequently Asked Questions About Eating Disorder Treatment

Will I gain a lot of weight if I get treated?
We know this is your greatest fear. The Reality: Our goal is not to make you gain excessive weight, but to get your metabolism "functioning" properly again. When you starve yourself for long periods, your body goes into survival mode and stores fat. When you eat regularly and without fear, your metabolism speeds up, and your body naturally reaches its ideal (healthy) weight. There is never an uncontrolled increase in weight.
What should I do when a binge eating crisis hits?
During the therapy process, we teach you the "Urge Surfing" technique. You will learn to recognize that a binge urge comes on like a wave: it builds up, reaches a peak, and then inevitably subsides. Together, we will create an "Emergency Kit" (including breathing exercises, distraction techniques, etc.) to help you navigate those critical 15 minutes until the crisis passes.
Will my vomiting damage my teeth?
Yes. Stomach acid erodes tooth enamel and leads to tooth loss. Furthermore, chronic purging causes tears in the esophagus and can lead to heart rhythm disorders (due to Potassium loss). This is why Bulimia is not just a psychological condition, but an "Emergency Medical" situation that requires immediate professional intervention to protect your physical health.
Will getting stomach botox or a gastric balloon fix the problem?
f the underlying cause is "Emotional Eating," stomach botox or a gastric balloon will unfortunately not be effective. Why? Even if your stomach is physically reduced or limited, the "urge to eat" in your mind does not stop. You might end up pushing the physical limits of your stomach to continue eating, or switch to consuming high-calorie liquids (like milkshakes or melted chocolate) to bypass the restriction. The Order Matters: Treatment for the Eating Disorder must come first, followed by obesity treatment (if necessary). This sequence is vital for long-term success and your health.
How can I convince my child to eat?
In adolescents, an eating disorder is often a "Power Struggle." The more the family insists "Eat!", the more the child establishes control over their own domain by saying "I won't." The Method: Instead of forcing the child to eat, we change the communication style within the home through Family Therapy. We help the child establish control through healthy communication rather than using food as a tool for rebellion or independence.
